National Champion Red Wine - 2009 Australian Small Winemakers Show
Date: October 26, 2009
Continuing its 2009 wine show circuit success, Briar Ridge
Vineyard has just received the major accolade of “National Champion
Red Wine”, picking up the trophy at the 2009 Australian Small
Winemakers Show, for its 2007 Dairy Hill Single Vineyard Hunter
Valley Shiraz. Following on from its recent 5-star rating in the
James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2010 Edition, which scored
the same wine at 95 points, Briar Ridge also picked up a Gold Medal
for their flagship Semillon, made from the same vineyard block at
its Mount View vineyard.
Winemaker, Mark Woods, also picked up the Winemaker Travel
Award for producing the National Champion Red Wine.
The 2007 Dairy Hill Shiraz has now received 2 Trophies and 5
Gold Medals, and the 2009 Dairy Hill Semillon has notched up 5
Gold Medals, which is testament to the first release of Briar
Ridge's new Single Vineyard range of wines.
