2023 Limited Release Fiano

Vineyard

Planted in 2016 and sitting in front of the old Briar Ridge Squire Cottage. We are continuing to be impressed by the quality of the fruit from this site and expect great things in the years to come. An exceptionally wet start to the season provided unique challenges to region, which required greater hours in the vineyard to ensure quality was maintained. However, a warm and dry spell from Mid January through till March resulted in a year of excellent quality across the board.

Tasting Notes

Made in the traditional style of the variety displaying aromatic notes of honeysuckle and orange blossom. The intensely flavoured palate shows ginger spice, nashi pear and subtle nutty characters combined with a rich and textured mid palate. In traditional style the acid line provides length and a crisp persistent finish. Best consumed in youth, but will evolve gracefully becoming richer and more savoury over the next 5 years.

Reviews

Handpicked, foot-stomped and fermented partially in large, seasoned older casks and tanks. A subtle, ever so gently mid-weighted fiano, with telltale aromas of pistachio husk, fennel and wild honey, yet there is nothing sweet about it. Finely tuned, with a raft of detailed phenolics and freshness, as with the better wines at this increasingly good address. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
