The Stockhausen Semillon has been created in the traditional style that has made the Hunter Valley famous. This 2023 Semillon was harvested specifically to capture the crisp citrus flavours with refreshing acidity. The wine displays a bright lemon blossom bouquet with lingering lime characters on the palate. The finish is refined and persistent.

Fresh sashimi or broccolini and lemon salad.
Further information

Hand harvested off each vineyard, each batch was separately handled until assembling the wine the following summer. Individual batches where fermented with both indigenous and isolated yeast strains.

"A classical semillon with youthful restraint poised for cellaring. Hand-picked, sorted fruit was whole-bunch pressed with the free run fermented in stainless using neutral yeast and bottled shortly after. Pure lemon-juice aromas. The palate has excellent clarity and citrus flavours, pleasing weight and softness. Although it is lovely now, it will benefit from time in bottle."

Vintage information

Possibly the first "classic" vintage I've ever experienced in the Hunter. "Classic" as the older guard call it refers to how grapes for table wine where never picked until February rolled around. 2023 was exactly this, we didn't pick a grape in January.
